About Us

Silverback Arboricultural Consultancy was established in 2007

Our principal consultant is Chris Wright. MArborA. Chris has over 30 years’ practical and advisory experience in arboriculture. He is a Professional member of the Arboricultural Association and LANTRA certified Professional Tree Inspector.

Chris gained the National Diploma in Arboriculture with distinction at Merrist Wood College in 1996, Arboricultural Association Technician Certificate (Tech Cert) in 1999 and in 2010 was awarded Professional Membership of the Arboricultural Association. 

Having spent 7 years in the post of senior tree officer within the planning department of South Gloucestershire Council, Chris has gained an in-depth knowledge of the planning system and current legislation relating to trees and construction.  This has given him vast experience of dealing with all issues relating to protected trees from applications for works, legal issues such as unauthorised works and TPO appeals. 

Prior to joining the council Chris ran a successful tree surgery contracting company, Chris Wright Tree Services for 14 years. This company undertook a wide range of tree surgery operations for both domestic and business customers.

Our newest member of the consultancy team is Deb Randall BSc (Hons).  Deb is an arboricultural and ecological consultant for Silverback Arboricultural Consultancy.

Deb graduated with a joint honours degree in Ecotourism and Countryside  Management from the University of Derby in 2016.  Since then, Deb has gained experience in woodland management and ecology before training as an arboriculturist. Deb has now over 5 years’ experience working in the arboricultural industry and is a Lantra Certified Professional Tree Inspector and an Associate member of the Arboricultural Association.
